Empire of the Sun: dove il sole non tramonta

Chi, tra voi, quelli più bravi-ma mica tanto- a scuola, ricorderà su quale impero il suo padrone si vantava non calasse mai il sole?
La risposta la lascio alle vostre memorie o a Wikipedia, dipende...
Ma non è di questa facezia, che considero quasi una stupidaggine, che vorrei parlarvi; del resto è talmente poco attinente con quello di cui sto per dirvi che va considerata irrilevante.
Quello di cui vorrei narrarvi è uno stop and go, che sembrava un peccato in fase di stop e che sembra un nuovo-e più promettente- inizio in fase di go.
Spesse volte vi ho narrato di australiani, delle volte celeberrimi e di buon talento, altre volte decisamente più fortunati e abbracciati dal loro fausto destino e non brillanti in validità.
Bene, in questo caso, io mi sentirei di rivolgere le spalle al pozzo dei desideri e di farvi scivolare dentro anche un solo copeco arrugginito....si sa, viviamo in periodo di crisi ed ogni uscio diviene portone.
Venendo al dunque, gli Empire of the Sun sono due baldi giovani degli antipodi, che apportano in gruppo il loro talento proveniente da diverse esperienze, fuse nel nome di un romanzo ed in un progetto di indie electro significativo.
Il loro esordio è targato 2008 ed il titolo è Walking on a Dream, cui segue We Are The People, una convincente doppietta quasi come il trucco improbabile da maschera di Luke Steele, ex leader di un notevole gruppo di retroguardia, gli Sleepy Jackson, ma c'è qualcosa di altro che ne fa una formazione interessante.
Le ambientazioni e le cifre della formazione sono tipiche di una epoca in cui si globalizzano anche le idee. Si va dalle andine pendenze scoscese riservate a garretti da asceti alle multiformi e colorate varietà da Shanghai downtown.
Ma questo era solo l'inizio. Poi il buio. Un buio inspiegabile- se non con una crisi giustificata di creatività, improvvisa quanto appunto legittima-. Un solo album all' attivo, sempre del 2008, ed un nuovo progetto, targato 2013, che già sta facendo il giro delle radio e dei network specializzati, con notevolissimo successo e seguito.
Parliamo del nuovissimo singolo, Alive, qui di sotto, che promette bene, mentre il prossimo album, che speriamo sia adeguato alla premiere, è previsto per il prossimo mese di Luglio.
Il sole è basso e brucia le pelli degli immigrati del Vecchio Mondo in questo antipodo nuovissimo e scalda spiagge-tanto- e oceano-molto poco, in verità- ed è giusto che questi due figliuoli se ne prendano tanto in faccia, dopo una insolazione quinquennale, e si spera che su di loro si apra l'ombrellone del successo stabile e meritato.

Empire of the Sun: Where the Sun Never Sets
Who among you, even you lackluster students, remember the empire of which its master boasted the sun never set?  I leave you to answer by memory or by way of Wikipedia...

But this isn’t a joke although what I’m about to tell you is somewhat silly and could be considered irrelevant.

What I want to tell you about is a tale of stop and go; shameful in stop mode, a fresh - and more promising - start in go mode.  I’ve told you many a time about Australians, sometimes famous and talented, sometimes far more fortunate and embraced by their auspicious destiny but without brilliance or validity.
Well, in this case, I feel like turning my back to the wishing well to have you toss in a single rusty kopeck.... you know, we live in times of crisis and every door becomes a portal.
Coming to the point, Empire of the Sun are two fearless young men of the Antipodes, who as a group, bring their talents from dichotomic experiences, cast in the name of a novel and a project of indie electro significance.
Their 2008 debut titled Walking on a Dream was followed by We Are The People, a credible double almost as convincing as Luke Steele’s  - former leader of the remarkable retro group The Sleepy Jackson - unlikely made-up mask, but there’s something else that makes it an interesting development.  The locations and numbers are typical of a time when ideas were being globalized. They range from the steep Andean slopes reserved for ascetic’s ham hocks to the varied and colorful variety of say downtown Shanghai.
But this was only the beginning. Then, the dark. An inexplicable darkness.  A veritable crisis of creativity as sudden as it was legit. A lone profitable album in 2008, and a new project, cut in 2013, which is already making the rounds of radio and specialized networks, with remarkable success.
We talking about the new single, Alive here, which is promising, while the next album, which we hope will be an adequate premiere is slated for release next July.
The sun is low and burns the skins of has-beens in this newest antipode and warms banks with so very little ocean that these two lads will scorch, after their sunless five-year sabbatical, so we hope for the shade of the proverbial umbrella of a well-deserved success.
